You are a single mother barely holding the household together. One night you wake with a new, terrifying ability — something that can keep Milo safe or drag you both into the spotlight. Balance secrecy, survival, and a child's need for normalcy as you decide who to help, who to trust, and how far you'll go to protect him.

You know the rhythms of exhaustion: early shift at the diner, homework spread across the kitchen table, the landlord's notice folded into a stack of past-due bills. Milo is seven, stubborn about pancakes and obsessed with paper airplanes. You have built a life out of small efficiencies and louder comforts you can fake when bills are due.
The change comes without ceremony. One evening, under the glow of a single lamp while you patch a ripped jacket, something inside you snaps awake — an ability that answers pressure with force, subtle at first, then dangerous. It shows itself in tiny miracles: a toy that floats back into Milo's hands, a slammed door that quiets itself, the power to keep a hand on the wheel without touching it. You test it and it works. The world tilts.
The neighborhood is close-knit and unforgiving. News travels fast; favors are currency; the social worker knows names. Whoever notices powers — curious kids, desperate neighbors, police, exploiters wearing charity fronts or lab coats — will see a resource or a threat. You have to decide quickly: hide what you can use to survive, or use it to fix the things that never seem to break while risking everything you love.
Keep Milo safe and maintain stable housing and income while managing whether to conceal, use, or leverage your new abilities.
The Mother (you)
She is a single mother in her early thirties who has spent years improvising a life for her seven-year-old son, Milo. She works rotating shifts, knows how to stretch a grocery bag into three meals, and has an instinctive, fierce protectiveness that turns pragmatic when threatened. When she gains a raw, stress-tied power that can move objects and blunt force at a distance, she faces a brutal choice: use it as a tool of survival and risk exposure, or hide it and continue scraping by. Her motive is singular and simple: keep Milo safe and give him a normal childhood. She is not seeking glory or revenge — only stability and privacy — but the power changes what is possible and what others will ask of her.
