In 2325, Earth's survival depends on a yes vote from the Galactic Alliance — and the room that decides your species' future is flooded with doubt. You are Mara Keene: a woman who turned scandal into influence on Startalk and now carries her planet's fate into negotiations where rhetoric, reputation, and romance collide. The Va’naxi, a razor-bright species with a dry wit, insist humanity isn't ready; many delegates fear humans will repeat Earth's environmental collapse across the stars. One controversial law — a blanket ban on romantic relationships between humans and aliens — has become the th

You stand on a platform that used to be called ‘diplomacy’ and is now equal parts broadcast studio, bargaining floor, and battlefield. The year is 2325: oceans have drowned old coasts, wealth is hoarded in orbital arcologies, and Earth’s last functioning governments bargain for access to allied resource-sharing networks and refuge slots. Joining the Galactic Alliance is not prestige — it is survival.
You rose from those ruined coasts by mastering Startalk: viral shortcasts, provocative essays, and staged confrontations that turned millions of followers into an informal power base. That audience made you untouchable at home and unbearably controversial abroad. The United Earth Council sent you because you win hearts and eyes — and because elected officials believe your visibility can translate into votes.
Across the table sits the Va’naxi lead delegate: liquid-eyed, mordantly funny, and publicly unconvinced that humanity has the discipline or ethics required of member worlds. The Alliance as a whole has framed one of humanity’s domestic laws — the ban on romantic interspecies relationships — as evidence of a societal immaturity that could ripple outward. Private backchannels whisper of leaked data, public Startalk storms, and the possibility that a single viral misstep could scuttle negotiations.
Negotiations open today. You can command cameras, manipulate public opinion, whisper deals in gilded corridors, or cross a line and make enemies. The vote will not wait for you to be cautious.
Win Earth a binding vote to join the Galactic Alliance by persuading enough member delegates to support admission while neutralizing Va’naxi opposition and preventing a diplomatic scandal that would leave Earth isolated.
Mara Keene
Mara Keene grew up where the sea claimed blocks of apartments and the old city maps ended in ragged blue. She learned to monetize outrage: a Startalk creator who turned viral scandal, micro-docs about climate refugees, and theatrical debates into a broad, loyal audience. That platform pushed her from online infamy into a contested seat on the United Earth Council’s delegation. She accepts the role as much to save her planet as to prove that a person with a messy past and outsized voice can win real power. Mara’s motives are mixed: she wants to secure refuge and resources for Earth, smash the paternalistic idea that humans are irredeemable, and—more privately—change the law that forbids human-alien romantic ties, which she sees as both unjust and a needless diplomatic stumbling block.
